The distracted mind

- If you've ever spent time around a baby, think about how they spend their time and energy. Babies give their full attention to the moments that matter to them. If they need something, they let you know. If they're connecting with you, you know that too. Now think about your day. How often do you give your full attention to what matters most to you in the moment? Are you easily distracted by a new email or a message from a coworker or a friend? Do you ever look at the text messages when you're driving? These distractions can destroy our mental and emotional health, especially when they become patterns of thought and behavior. Because the brain isn't wired to be constantly multitasking or constantly stimulated, or constantly anything at all. That constant stimulation can make our energy flatline, which is always bad, just like eating only broccoli is just as bad as eating only pizza, or at least that's what I tell myself.
