The data you need

- I've been an economist since the early 2000's, but in my first job, looking for an entry-level economics gig, I had no idea how to do a job search. And I had no idea how to apply what I knew about economic data to make that job search go more quickly. If I could go back in time, I tell myself what I know now but since that's not possible, I want to to share with you the tips and tricks to accelerate your job search by using available data and by having a strategy. In the United States, the best place to start is the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and its website, bls.gov. The BLS collects all kinds of data about the labor market, everything from wages and unemployment to past, present, and future trends. This means that while you might want to know where the opportunities are right now. The BLS website also includes forecast for where the opportunities will be in the future. We'll discuss some of this data in this course and we'll pull it together with some actionable strategies to help you accelerate your job search. Because even if I can't go back in time, I can help you save time until you get your next job.
