The current landscape of learning analytics
- Do you know that learning analytics is a fast-growing field? Just to give you an idea, globally, the current market is around $2.6 billion, and is expected to grow to about $7.1 billion by 2023. And this is not that far away. Even though learning analytics is getting bigger all the time, it is still not an established field. It is fair to say that we are drawing on many techniques, tools and methods from other disciplines. This eclectic approach is both advantageous and problematic. The advantage is that we can build on already established practices, and if things don't work, we can change and try a different tool or method quickly. Now, the problem is that we still lack a coherent and consistent way of applying learning analytics and to articulate what it is.
