Be the boss they want and need
- You can try to use your direct authority to force people to do things. But you know as well as I do that we approach things with our best effort when we're inspired. If you've studied persuasion, you know that Aristotle suggested there are three tried and true components of being persuasive. They're ethos, pathos, and logos. These apply for leaders if you're seeking to inspire followers. So let's dive in to how these pillars apply to you. Ethos, or credibility, is about your character as a leader. Are you seen as someone who's genuine? Do you have a reputation for being honest? People are paying attention to the decisions you make, particularly the seemingly small ones. If you cut corners on small things, how will anyone know where you draw the line? The second pillar, logos, is your logical appeal. Do you have a vision that makes good sense?
