- I was involved with these lawsuits between Apply and Digital Research, Apple and Microsoft, about the graphical user interface. So my best story about negotiation is this. So Digital Research created something called GEM, and this was, in our humble opinion, a ripoff of the Macintosh user interface. So, we have our outside council, and we're going to go to Digital Research in Monterey and meet with them. So, there's a guy named Jack Brown, and I was in the car that Jack Brown was in as we're driving to Digital Research in Monterey. And as we were driving along, he says to me, you know, Guy, a trashcan is a trashcan. An icon is an icon. There's other systems with menus and WYSIWYG, icons. So, I don't know what's going to happen today. I don't know how we can win. It's not like we invented this, and we patented it, and all that. And I'm getting out of that car.
