Your role in managing performance

- As a manager, you have some responsibility for the performance of others. And yet, you aren't doing the work, they are. This paradox becomes a problem for many managers and not new ones. How can I be responsible for work that I'm not doing? As the managers, you have some responsibility but not all of it, your responsibility is to influence others to meet their performance goals and objectives. If that is happening well, all is good. But how can you as a manager change someone else's performance if it isn't up to the needed standard? You can't. At least not directly. The most important word I've said so far holds the key, influence. Your role in changing performance is all an act of influence. They will do the work or not.
