- One of the first things that I often ask people when they come and tell me that they think they want to start a business is this, "Do you have a life plan? "In fact, do you know what you want "and why you want it?" And the reason why this is so important is because honestly, guys, the business is really secondary. It's really about you designing your dream life. And then figuring out a business that's going to throw off enough money to allow you to live it. And this is an important step. Because I think sometimes people just need to go get a different job. You know, I don't know that everybody needs to take on what this thing is we call business ownership. Because it is serious business. And you could risk entire financial ruin if you're not really clear about what you're doing. And so I often tell people, "Start with developing your life plan first."
