- A big part of working productively from a hotel room is being able to do so comfortably. Some hotel rooms are set up for work better than others, but there are some steps you can take, and some things you can have with you, to make sure you can work as comfortably as possible in just about any room. One of the most useful things you can do for yourself is to get longer versions of the cables you use to power your laptop, phone, and other devices. Now, I happen to be in a room where there are plenty of power outlets available right here on the desk. But having longer cables, for example, here's a 10-foot cable I found online for just around $10, but with it I never have to worry about it not reaching the desk or the working area in case I need to crawl under the desk or move furniture out of the way to get to the power outlets.
