Working across cultures: A path of discovery
- In developing cross-cultural intelligence, you will learn that to be effective in communicating with people from different cultures you need to absorb information, observe behaviors, ask questions, and so much more. It's important to understand intention, theory, and history in some cases. You need to be curious, you need to flex your style, strategize according to the information you have, and you always need to evaluate if what you tried worked or not. The beauty of working with different cultures creates a dynamic environment. This interaction is a constant puzzle that asks you to stay on the path of discovery. Now, some of you may love this challenge. Others may find it tiring to always have to think and adjust, but please be patient. I have designed a simple mindset approach that you can use every time a new cultural transaction comes your way. I am Tatiana Kolovou and my goal in this course is to help you raise your awareness when it comes to working across cultures, understand where some behaviors are coming from, and adjust your style in order to be more influential and more effective. You will hear me say this again and again. Developing the ability to work seamlessly across cultures is not about having all the right answers, it's about asking all the right questions.
