- One of my favorite quotes is often credited as being said by Napoleon as he was getting ready for battle. Speaking to his valet, he ordered, "dress me slowly, for I am in a hurry." Now, what does that mean to you and me? It means if we want to get something done quickly, we also have to be patient about it. Otherwise, we're going to make the mistakes that come from just being in a rush. We will be unprepared for battle, so to speak. So consider the last time that you were in a hurry, when you were rushing to get something done. What moment comes to mind? It could be as simple as responding to an email or quickly delegating a task. Because of your rush, how did things turn out? What was the quality of the work that you did? Did you have to go back and redo something? How did others react to that rush? After answering those questions, replay that moment and think about what you could have done instead. What if you had…
