- Option number one when you realize that somebody is playing a game with you is to withdraw, just to walk away from that situation, or even walk away from that person. If there's somebody who you've noticed is quite gamey, you could just decide you're not going to have them as a friend anymore. This one is much easier with friends, or rather, so-called friends. It's more difficult at work, because you're stuck in the office, and you have to be with that person. But you can still withdraw when the game starts, and just refuse to play the game. So let's suppose you've got somebody at work who's a brand stamp collector, and they're going, "Oh, typical, look what's happened now." You don't have to get drawn into playing Ain't it Awful, and going, "Oh, I know it's awful, isn't it?", or trying to solve their problem. You can just say, "Yeah, I know it is awful, isn't it?"
