Why values matter
- What makes someone stand out to you? Plenty of people curate their lives and images on social media. But do you remember them all? Do a quick mental exercise. What was the last post or story you saw that resonated with you deeply enough to make it stick? We don't connect with the staged or the Photoshopped. We connect with the real: people sharing real experiences. It's because we can find some of that in common with our own lives, right? So how does that relate to values? And why is it all so important? The answer is simple. Whether we know it or not, when we are being real or authentic, it means we are communicating from a certain set of personal values. Personal values are a set of beliefs and guiding principles that direct our actions and drive our motivations. We all have them. It's the process of uncovering them and being hyperaware of them that will allow you to really connect with others, making you an excellent communicator.
