(upbeat music) - There's a quote I love about empathy and leadership and its leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand from John Maxwell. - I love that quote Elizabeth because it really talks about you've got to connect with people before you can ask them for your help. And that's where empathy comes in. There's a couple of big advantages that empathy gives you as a leader. First off, people can feel empathy on a physical level. The studies tell us that 78% of what we interpret from another person comes from their tone, their body language and their facial expressions. So when you express empathy, you are forging a really strong connection with the people on your team. - That empathy shows up in a lot of small ways too.
