Who interviews you and what they’re looking for

- The role of a product manager is a hugely impactful one that interfaces with a wide variety of stakeholders, so it's no surprise that the interview process will be long and involve a number of people from all sorts of teams. I want to give you an overview about the types of people that you can expect to find yourself talking to. Now, you might not talk to everyone I mention here, but you should be prepared to, just in case. Let's run through four primary groups and what they're looking for, and then discuss some other stakeholders. Like most jobs, the first person you'll talk to in the hiring process is a recruiter. In a nutshell, their job is doing due diligence like an investor would on a potential investment. They want to answer questions like, are you who you say you are? And have you actually done what you said you did on your resume? Also, the recruiter makes sure you're a logistical fit by identifying when you can start, and understanding your salary expectations.
