- There aren't many tools that you'll be using as much as your email inbox. It's just the reality of being a freelancer. You're going to spend a lot of time emailing with prospects, clients, or partners. And there are many email software options to choose from so you'll want to pick what's best for you. Let's dive in. If all you're doing is direct one-to-one communication with clients and prospects, software to manage your inbox like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or otherwise will work just fine. Just make sure that you choose a service that works well with your other tools. If you use Google Docs or Google Calender, use Gmail. If you use OneDrive and Microsoft Office a lot, then use Outlook.
