When you need a lead-based paint disclosures
- [Instructor] This section states that any residential real property built prior to 1978 must include a federally-required disclosure about lead-based paint. If the property in your contract was built after 1978, you do not need a Lead-Based Paint Disclosure. The disclosure requires the seller to provide any information they have or reports about known lead-based paint hazards for the property. Some states have different requirements or require additional information on a separate addendum. So make sure you do your research in your state if you are dealing with pre-1978 properties.
