- Here's the second category of key action patterns that characterize people with strong, sustained executive presence. What you say and how you say it. As you hear each of the following action patterns, give yourself a rating on a scale of one to 10 where one is low and 10 is high for how well you do each of them consistently. Here's the first one, speak decisively. Express a clear point of view when it's time for you to weigh in on a topic. Be ready to speak at the beginning and end to make a solid first or last impression and not come across as vacant or wishy-washy. Two, back it up. Be able to support your viewpoints with solid reasons and facts. Prepare ahead of time for objections, concerns and counter arguments. Three, respond when challenged.
