- Whenever I'm working with a client who wants to shake things up, I have them first focus on what they're changing. I try to get them to determine two factors, what's the type of change, and what's the method of change? This is the base understanding of what you're trying to change and who it will affect. And it will shed some light on what's within your capacity to actually change. Having an understanding of what you can and can't change offers benefits in grounding your change initiatives at various levels within an organization, and at different levels make change more or less complex. At the most simple level are changes in individual behavior. This can be at the truly individual level, such as changes in someone's tasks, a shift in leadership style or similar.
