- So when someone says, "Just drop me an email," what they're really doing is they're saying in a polite way, "I might care about you as a person "and maybe about your product, "but just not right now. "I've got too much on my plate "and I've got too many other things to think about." It's also a chance for more shy and less socially confident people to look at your service in a safe environment where they don't have you hanging over them or on the end of the phone asking do they want to buy it and trying to handle their objections. It's also a way to give people some hope when there actually is none, rather than giving them an outright no. So will you come to my party next week? Maybe. Do you want to go for a coffee sometime soon? I'll see what I can do. These are all more polite ways of saying, "I really don't want to do that," and not giving you an outright no.
