What makes a bad cover letter?
(upbeat music) - Come on in. What makes a bad cover letter? Where to begin. A bad cover letter focuses more on what you want out of the deal than what you can walk through their doors and deliver. Remember, at this stage of the game, the employer cares almost exclusively about what you can offer versus what you're looking for. Just be sure and frame your cover letter around that. Another characteristic of a bad cover letter is that it's completely redundant to your resume. So here's the thing. Chances are, they've already seen your resume. You don't need to rehash it. Instead, use your cover letter to connect the dots between their needs and your background. Finally, a bad cover letter rambles. For sure, say what you need to say, but don't take that reader on some long route. Be compelling and be succinct.
