- I never imagined that meeting a LinkedIn connection of mine offline would change my views on leadership. I was meeting Nicole Johnston for a coffee offline, having engaged in many conversations with her on LinkedIn. When we eventually met face-to-face, she said one of the most poignant lessons I've ever learnt. Having been a former advisor to a UK prime minister, she shared how much I had changed her view on traditional leadership. That it wasn't about power or hierarchy, and that it was much more about inspiring and influencing people. After that conversation, I realized that I was in fact a leader, a word that for a very long time remained uncomfortable for me, let alone associate myself to.
