What does it mean to communicate values?
- Having your values in mind when you communicate with others will help you channel your authentic self. Let's look at how that actually works in practice. Here's an example. Let's examine a woman we'll call Alicia. She's a VP and a leader of a team of 30 at her company. She has a reputation for working hard, and expects the same of her team, but she's struggling to connect with them and inspire them to bring 100% each day. Her team on the other hand believes they understand her. That she's hardworking, and expects the same of everyone. That however hasn't been enough to motivate them. Why? Well, working hard is usually an outcome factor, not a motivating factor. So we'll need to dig deeper to see what values are actually motivating Alicia so she can connect what motivates her with what motivates her team. First, let's take hard work.
