- Unless we're explicit with ourselves about the image we want to project to the wider organization, then we begin to lose control over how others perceive us. To start changing this, we can use a well-known marketing process to identify our own features and benefits and craft a communication that accurately reflects who we are and what we want to be known for. The first step in this process is recognizing the things that we do extremely well. In other words, what are the features that we have available to offer? You'll have skills and capabilities that are unique and that your company values. If you didn't, you'd not be in a role. Examples of this may include your ability to analyze data, to drive project forward, or to engage with others behind a common goal. Make a list of these features and include as many as you can.
