Welfare to wellbeing

- So in today's environment, a lot of organizations focus on welfare. The ideology is that, if we continue compensating people for the work that they do, they'll be happy. In reality, welfare is not the same as wellbeing. Welfare is based around happiness, but it's assessed through one's standard of living. Wellbeing, on the other side, it's a more holistic experience. So it's better associated with one's satisfaction in life, one's sense of belonging, for example, and it indeed drives a sense of belonging in the workplace too. And we care about belonging inside our organizations because, when people feel like they belong to a group, they actually go way above and beyond what's expected of them from a role perspective. So, for example, for me, I have my best sense of belonging with my family, so if my sister is going to ask me something, I'm going to go out and beyond, right? And you may have that feeling with a group inside your workplace. It may be another community in the society…
