From the course: Conquering Writer's Block

Welcome

(upbeat tones) - Have you ever sat down to write, and nothing came out? Have you ever missed a deadline for a book or article or paper or even an email because you were stuck and just couldn't write it? Have you ever started a writing project, inspired and motivated at the start, but then stalled out halfway through? Have you ever felt just plain blocked in your writing? It's frustrating, right? To have something you want to write or even have to write, and you just can't do it. I'm of course describing the biggest problem that all writers face at some point in their projects or careers. The pesky little thing called writer's block. Hello, my name is Jessica Brody, and I'm the author of more than 17 books and novels published by several major publishers, like Simon & Schuster, Random House, Macmillan, and Disney Press. I've been writing professionally full-time for over 10 years now, and the number one question I get asked when I'm on the road, touring, visiting schools, speaking at writing conferences, or teaching workshops is this. How do you deal with writer's block? And the answer I give might shock you. I don't get writer's block. Well, at least not anymore. I used to get writer's block a lot. I used to struggle to finish every single project, and writing just one book a year was a total challenge. But in the past few years, I've developed a series of tools and mindset shifts that have rid me from writer's block completely. Now, on average, I write over 300,000 words per year. That's the equivalent of three to four full-length novels or books every single year, and I never, ever say the words, "I have writer's block." In this course, I'm not just going to teach you how to deal with writer's block. I'm going to show you how to eliminate it forever. That's right, I'm going to share with you all of my tools and tricks and mindset shifts that I've developed in my career to vanquish that pesky little problem for good and turn you from a blocked writer into a prolific writer, with a capital P. After applying the lessons you learn in this course, never again will you have to say the words, "I have writer's block." Sounds life changing, right? Well, it certainly has been for me, and I think it will be for you, too. So, let's get you unblocked, shall we?
