- Have you ever sat through a presentation and half way through it you were tempted to whip out your laptop or your cellphone? Sure, you felt a pang of guilt, but that didn't stop you did it? The presenter was droning on and on and as a result you checked out. This is a natural response audience members feel when they lose interest in a talk. The human mind craves novelty and when it becomes disengaged it will look for other means to capture its attention. So how can you as a presenter keep your audience's attention throughout your talk? You can break a story up into parts and have them transition into the main points you want to cover in your talk.
