- One of the mistakes I made in my first role as manager, 30 years ago, was to make changes right away. I came in ready to leave my mark and improve the team, but it failed miserably. The problem was the team was already facing a bunch of change. They had a new manager, had just lost a manager they liked, and were wrestling with a lot of uncertainty.
