- So now it's time to generate some ideas. Have you ever made dinner plans with a friend and not sure where you wanted to eat? So you start throwing out different ideas, restaurants, different types of food, different locations. You're brainstorming. Brainstorming is when you get a mass quantity of ideas and thoughts. Brainstorming can seem wild and out of control, but it's an extremely valuable technique with a structure. So first start with why do you need ideas. What are you looking to do with the ideas? We need ideas so that we can, what? You're looking for ideas for something. So be clear to your participants why their ideas are needed. This also will build trust with them when they understand what you're going to do with what they say. When you're clear on your goal, now you have to think about how you will get them to participate.
