- [Narrator] Now that we've discussed some basic principles and assumptions of negotiation, let's discuss a few very simple and very powerful techniques that you can use today. The first one is simply a single word, the word imagine. It's a powerful word. One you can use to get the seller seeing themselves in a new situation. For example, Mr. Johnson, can you imagine yourself not having to deal with all of these repairs? Or Susan, can you imagine when we've closed, and you've received the check, and you have the money to move to Kentucky? Or Bob, can you imagine not having to deal with these tenants, not having to deal with their late utility bills, or the repairs they often require? Can you imagine being able to move on and enjoy your retirement? The word imagine is a powerful way to get others to see the solutions you're providing.
