Using power statements to increase confidence

- Garbage in, garbage out. Have you ever heard that saying before? It actually comes from the world of computer science. The idea behind it is that poor quality input will always produce broken output, or garbage. In a similar way, your internal dialog is a major input into how confidently you feel and act, and your internal dialog or self-talk is shaped by a number of things like your default thoughts, questions, and beliefs, and most important, the tone of those things. Think of it like this. If you're inner messages seem overrun by a harsh and critical inner jury, you won't behave in a way that promotes confidence. You might think to yourself as you prepare to share an important update in a meeting, "I'm never going to get this message right."
