- While list of six to eight performance objectives is a far better way to attract top talent than a laundry list of must have skills and experiences, it's not enough. The missing piece is the EVP, or employee value proposition. The EVP needs to be compelling enough to attract someone to read your job posting or email, or return your voicemail. The EVP answers this question. Why would a top person who's not looking consider this job a career move. For example, launch our new state of the art medical product line. That's a good EVP. Here's another one. Create our next hands-free user interface. They're all good EVPs. Vague statements like join us since we're the best in the business, that won't capture the imagination of the top person who would only consider a true career move.
