- Not everything can wait until tomorrow. There are certain tasks that you need to do more often. By having a way to take care of them consistently, you can shift your focus to anything else you need to prioritize. Horizontal theming is that way. Unlike theming your days, horizontal theming involves theming blocks of hours in your day. You set aside these focused blocks of time so you can focus on those actions you need to prioritize on a regular basis. Here's what you need to keep in mind when creating horizontal themes. Number one, anything you theme horizontally should be something you need to prioritize over multiple days of the week. I have a horizontal theme that spans the workweek called Maintenance Mode, which helps me prioritize any tasks I've classified as maintenance tasks.
