- Early in my career, I had created what I thought was an awesome presentation to be delivered online. I recorded my voice speaking over some PowerPoint slides with lots of text on them that I had used dozens of times very successfully during in-person training classes. After the online was delivered, we only got one comment typed into the post-instruction survey and it wasn't good. The comment simply read, "The slides in this course "look like PowerPoint on steroids. "Too many words on the screen." A better, more effective approach would have been to ditch the text on screen look and instead incorporate a variety of graphics and images to add engagement and more importantly, to help the learners grasp what I was explaining. I'm sure you know from first-hand experience that graphics, animations, and inserting images are much more engaging and instructionally useful than simply placing a ton of text on the screen.
