Use feelings!
- The next influencing technique that works really well with blue people is to use your feelings. Now I know this sounds really counter-intuitive, but it's a bit like tipping water into a computer and the computer is just going to go, "Oh, I can't cope with that." So let's suppose you want to ask your boss for a pay increase, and your boss is a blue, logical person. Then clearly lots of facts and information would be great, and I would recommend that to start with. So a big spreadsheet of all the people who are doing similar jobs to you, and the distribution of all their pay, and how 99% of them are being paid more than you are. If you've got a nice, complicated, detailed proof that you should be paid more, then that's great. That's what the blue person wants to see. But why not put some feelings in as well? Because if you say that you're feeling demotivated and a bit upset because you feel that you're not appreciated…
