- [Voiceover] This is Up and Running with RSS and Podcast Subscriptions. I'm Nick Brazzi. RSS stands for rich site summary, but you may hear people say it stands for really simple syndication. It's a technology that allows you to subscribe to content on the internet, so instead of visiting five different websites to read the news every morning, you can have the news from all of those sites come to you, in an RSS feed reader. In this course, we'll start by getting you familiar with an RSS feed reader application, which is your main tool for subscribing to, and reading, RSS feeds.
Then we'll go out on the web and see what it takes to find RSS feeds from your favorite news websites and blogs, so that you can subscribe to them in your feed reader. We'll take a look at using RSS feeds on mobile devices, like iPhones and iPads, or Android phones and tablets. We'll also get into podcasts. Podcasts are free subscription-based audio and video shows that you can subscribe to, and those subscriptions work through RSS feeds. We'll look at subscribing to podcasts in iTunes, as well as other applications.
Of course, we'll see how to use podcasts on a smartphone as well. Using RSS might just change the way you interact with the internet, so please join me for Up and Running with RSS and Podcast Subscriptions.
