Understanding your stakeholder's goals

- To influence a key stakeholder, We first need to understand what it is they value. We can do this by asking a few key questions to understand what they value and how they see the world. Throughout this process, we're trying to increase your empathy to their needs to better create a neutral working relationship. First, what are their objectives, priorities or problems right now. If you are asking people to get involved in a specific project or task, think about what's in it for them. If your project or task helps them solve a specific problem of their own, you can use this to help influence them. Even if your stakeholder is extremely time sensitive, you can use this to your advantage. In this example, you will be successfully influencing by framing your request in a way which gets what you need from them and yet creates minimal effort for them.
