Understanding your audience before speaking up

- Communications is not a one size fit all model. In fact, effective communications requires you to think about what your audience cares about. So this requires you to think about, what is your dynamic in relation to them, and what is on their mind? I'm going to introduce to you three different dynamics you want to think about before you approach any conversations. The first is, if you're about to speak with somebody who is above you, for example, your boss or your client that you're working with, chances are they're thinking, are you going to be offering them good information, are you going to be taking up their time, or are you going to be saving them time? This requires you to build credibility fast. When it comes to communications, you want to keep your conversations and information concise and high level, so they feel you've done your homework ahead of time.
