Understanding the box score system

- [Instructor] To objectively assess the value of the lean thinking enterprise, we must have some kind of mechanism to report on its efficacy. In my experience, there are a number of options that we can apply but the one I like the most is something called the box score. A box score is a simple one page at-a-glance summary of the key performance metrics for each value stream. When used effectively, it can drive incredible operational results and continuous improvement. Box scores are configurable, easy to understand, and over time become really easy to maintain. However, before we go ahead and design and build a box score, it's imperative to have already completed a value stream analysis, that is an assessment of the performance indicators, resource capacity and financial performance.
