- [Instructor] Even as our practice of mindfulness deepens, it's natural that old habits, such as obsessive thinking, defensiveness and worry will still sometimes take over. You might be committed to mindful listening, but find yourself cutting someone off in conversation trying to prove a point, or you might have the intention to forgive someone, but find you're still carrying a grudge. Because we're so inclined toward self doubt, when these kinds of things happen, it's easy to question our growth and lose confidence. So a key part of mindful living is remembering to relax when these patterns arise, to forgive ourselves, and to start again fresh in the new moment. Being at ease with the appearance of old and unwanted habits requires trust. It requires trust in your own awakening, heart and consciousness, and ultimately trust in life itself.
