Trust vs. fairness

- Trust and fairness are two very common company values, and most of the time being fair and trustworthy go hand-in-hand, but not always, and you'll see that in this situation that actually happened to me personally. In the late 90s I was on the leadership team of a manufacturing plant in California. Well half way through the assignment my boss, the plant manager, moved to a new role, which meant I got a new boss. His name was Joe. Now about two months after he started, and right before we all went home, Joe sent the whole leadership team a memo with a note attached, and the note said, tomorrow morning at our leadership team meeting I'll be telling you about a new pay and promotion policy I'll be implementing for all the mangers at this plant including you, but I wanted to give each of you a chance to think about it overnight first.
