Troubleshooting lower back pain
- When I get called in to do an ergonomic evaluation because someone has lower back pain and I arrive at the office and I see a pillow in the chair, right away I know what the issue is. When you sit down in the chair and you have that nice pillow back there, it gives you some support. But it's not really alleviating the issue. So the first thing I do is I'll remove the pillow. And then I set the chair up so that it fits them properly. And you can refer to my Adjusting your Chair video for more details on how to do that. So if you see the way that I'm sitting right now, my feet really aren't being supported on the floor. And when your feet are dangling like this, you're putting a lot of strain on your lower back. So the first thing we have to do is go ahead and lower the chair down. And as soon as the chair gets dropped down, I don't even know if you noticed it, but when I do this with my, the people that I see, I can see their entire body relax as soon as they get the support through…
