- We were on a teleconference with our team from Mexico, and the American project manager told our colleagues, "Guys, the results "of your actions are very poor." He paused and added, "I'm just pulling your leg." There was a silence on the other end, and no laughter, but one can sense they were upset. No one from the Mexican team understood that pulling your leg really meant, I'm kidding. Don't take me seriously. Funny as this may sound, translations can create big problems. So keep the following recommendations in mind to reduce costly misunderstandings. Use machine translations carefully and don't depend exclusively on them.
