- Of all of the jobs out there in the land of tech and startups, product management is one of the highest paying and most in demand roles. It's also a ton of fun. Unfortunately, unlike a lot of other jobs, you can't get a degree in it and there's not a lot of resources where you could learn about how to actually get into the role. The majority of PMs today got their start by either falling into the position by accident or by becoming a de facto PM as their small company grew and many of the earliest PMs have gone on to become CEOs.
In fact, the current CEO of Google was first a product manager. I'm Cole Mercer. If you wanna make the transition to product management, I'm gonna give you tips from my seven years of experience to maximize your chances of getting into this highly coveted role whether that's at your current company or any number of other awesome tech companies out there. We're gonna talk about the different types of PMs, their qualities, how to approach transitioning and even how to ace that interview and land the job. So stick with me and you're gonna be miles ahead of where the majority of today's product managers started out and that includes me.
