- Workshops are a great way to generate ideas and there are a number of really useful tools and techniques that can be used to harness these ideas. Now it's possible that not all stakeholders hold the same view on what the vision should be. So in exercising capturing viewpoints called the Soft Systems Method, or SSM, helps us explore different viewpoints and develop models of how things might work. Let's take a quick look at how this technique can be used to capture viewpoints. First, select people from the primary stakeholder group and decide whether to engage on a one-to-one basis or in a workshop. Then set objectives and agendas and appoint an experienced facilitator. Get a list of ideas from each stakeholder and then analyze their ideas on possible future scenarios. Each scenario must be tested and validated against the target for the program and their alignment for the strategic objectives.
