- Now that we are masters of thoughts, or on the road to being masters. Let's build upon that tool and give thought a bit more purpose and context. Because obviously, thought cannot exist in isolation. No aspect of a character's interiority can. There can be no interiority without the exterior, which means there is no inner world without an outer world. There can be no thought without something to think about. That's why, next up, I want to talk about actions and reactions. For the purposes of this course, we're going to define actions as things that happen to a character, and reactions as the way the character responds to them. As you've probably already deduced, a thought which we just learned about, can also be an example of a reaction. But it's not the only one. Characters can react to situations in many different ways, and those reactions can help clue the reader into who the character is, and what makes them tick.…
