- [Instructor] JFK said, "Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate". In my years of experience as a real estate investor, I would say that the number one challenge that investor face is in fact that they are afraid to negotiate, and I've often asked myself why. And it comes down to the fact that many beginning investors have the wrong assumptions about the negotiating process itself. So let's examine three assumptions. Number one, remember as an investor, your negotiation comes from a desire to have a future relationship. If that seller were to see you six months, a year, two years down the road on the sidewalk, they would look you in the eye, smile and shake your hand vigorously, why? Because when you negotiated, you remembered that they're a human being and you treated them in such a way that you knew they would win as much as you would win, and as a result, a future relationship is…
