Theater techniques overview
- In this chapter, I'm going to walk you through four physical techniques pooled from the world of theater that can help you communicate with confidence at work. If you think about the world of theater, it's very unnatural to need to say words someone else has written, the playwright, over and over again, night after night, yet making them seem as if it's the first time you're saying them, while people are staring at you in the dark, and you're attempting to be heard in the very back row of the theater. All of these circumstances in the theater come together to be defined as what we call in the theater as extraordinary circumstances. Nerves are flying, the tension is high, and four techniques I'm going to walk you through have been devised in order to help you feel rooted, present and authentically yourself when in front of an audience. (upbeat music)
