Temporarily suspend snap to grid

- [Instructor] Beginning with Visio 2013, the background grid on every page is turned off by default. You can make it visible from the View tab by selecting the Grid checkbox. However, whether you can see the grid or not, the snap to grid feature is enabled in most Visio diagrams. To verify this, look at the Visual Aids group and select the Dialog launcher. You can see that snap is currently active and in the snap to column, grid is selected. You can't disable snap entirely or just snap to grid while in this dialog box, but that may be overkill. Instead, the Alt key is a simple way to disable snap to grid temporarily. Click cancel to close this dialog and check it out. Click and drag one of the corner selection handles to resize the square. As you do so notice the stair step effect as Visio is snapping to each successive grid line. In contrast, notice how smooth the motion is when you hold the Alt key while dragging.…
