- [Instructor] The first technique is to get the data. It's really important that you talk to peers at other companies as well as to recruiters to truly understand what you should be making. Having the data will make you feel more confident going into the meeting. And you'll also more likely to be successful because your manager will see that you actually put the work into understanding what your market rate is. The second technique is knowing all the levers. So if you don't get the raise, is there something else that you can ask for? I've recently had a woman who didn't get the raise, but she was keen on joining a women's networking group that had a $2,000 annual membership fee. She asked for that and she got it.
