- Teaching your child to give is one of the greatest gifts that we can give our children because it's such an important part of who we are and I'm sure you'll love this as well. I always suggest, if you have multiple children, make this easy. Pick one cause per year that the entire family can get excited about. Maybe let one child pick one charity per year. There's so many great opportunities to do this all year long whether it be through your child's school or the neighborhood but most importantly, let your child get involved. Say, "Honey, what are some causes that excite you? "Who do you want to help?" And you're going to get some really interesting examples. I mean, my son came home and said he wanted to help penguins, and so we did all this research in how we could better support penguins.
